My 24-Hour Film Festival Submission "Addition"

Hello again! Fishy956 here again with the update I promised you (but you can just call me James, it admittedly sounds much more professional). So I entered a 24-hour film festival a few weeks ago and somehow managed to scrap this video together. So you can imagine my surprise when I found out that my team's film made it into the top 10 films. There were only 15 teams total but it still felt like a big accomplishment. There were some important judges there and they complimented the story and narrative greatly. While I'm not super proud of the thing (I've made better), I'm still excited to be able to share my team and I's hard work with all of you!

Also, Vlad and I have found a composer that has agreed to make an original soundtrack for our upcoming animation. The good news is that this animation is our most ambitious yet and this soundtrack will only push the boundaries even further. The bad news is that the animation will take a bit longer to release because of it. We are big fans of "quality over quantity" and we want to make sure that our work is of the highest quality before we share it with you guys so unfortunately we are pretty inconsistent. We hope you can bear with us until we are done post-secondary education and can devote more time into projects.

Addition

Please give me feedback so I can make it into the top 3 next time!

The three elements we were given to incorporate in the film were as follows:
Prop: Something maroon
Location: In a playgroundLine: "How d'ya like them apples?!"

This film was premiered on October 3, 2014 at the Art Gallery of Hamilton during the M24 Gala.

A Rare Update from Fishy956

So I haven't posted anything here in awhile... but with the new Minecraft animation mere days from being released, I just wanted to contribute in my own wee way. So lately I have been doing lots in the world of multimedia (my university majors are Multimedia and Communications Studies... go figure). I just tried creating vector art for the first time last Sunday and oh boy was that ever time consuming! I mean, it wasn't as bad as making an animation but it was up there. I chose the best three things ever as my subjects for this experiment and they turned out okay I guess. I had to rush them a bit to hand them in but I couldn't not share them. I have also just recently and barely completed another short film for a 24-hour film fest. While I'd love to show you guys now, I can't until after October 3rd when the event takes place. Anywho, now that you know that I'm still alive and kicking, I'll leave for another year and forget about you all (just kidding). I'll try to remember to update you about the short film but until then, don't forget to disable mipmaps!
My favourite (and first) one.
Aunt Jemima in glorious vector format!
The worst one.

Digital Portrait

Something I made a little while ago, haven't done much digital painting so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I'll be posting the rest of the episodes throughout the week, and once they're all uploaded I'll put them up here in bulk. Enjoy!

Alternate Steve Rig

Some people haven't always liked the smoothness and the little nose on Steve, so I made an alternate rig for you guys to use. It's pretty much exactly as the other one but with those 2 features removed. I'm still going to use my original one but if this appeals to you more feel free to use it instead.

Also just a heads up, I'm making a 5-part video series on how I make my animations, which should be out early May, or possibly late April.

Portrait

Been practicing portraits lately. I highly recommend reading Drawing Lessons from the Great Masters by Robert Beverly Hale if you're into drawing, it really helped me out. But anyways, Audrey Hepburn:
