New short on machinima! Also I know I post something and then go missing for half a year, but that's just the way I work. I'm going to try and post some tutorials if I think of any, and expect a short at least every 2 months from now on.

New Short - Tree Pigs
New short on machinima! Also I know I post something and then go missing for half a year, but that's just the way I work. I'm going to try and post some tutorials if I think of any, and expect a short at least every 2 months from now on.

Making Ocean Water
Here's a hopefully quick tutorial on how I did the water in the Steve fishing video. This isn't exactly realistic water, so if you want that look up another tutorial on YouTube or somewhere. This is just a technique to get quick, stylized, and somewhat interactive water.

New Steve short
I know it's short, and it's been a while, but really it's because I haven't been managing my time well. I've also been busy with school but I'm on break now, so I'll have more time to work on animations. You still might not see too much happening on my channel though, because I'm planning to do a series on machinima (based on Steve and Pig). I do have two friends still helping me though, so hopefully that'll speed things up too.
I'll try to post more on the blog too, it's just I don't want to post when there's nothing interesting or useful to post.

Cool Snapshot
You never actually see him from this angle in the short, but I thought it was a pretty cool pose. For the poster maybe?

Adding Objects Into a Scene
This is another thing some people have gotten confused about, how to get different elements together into a scene. Basically there's two different ways you can do it, you can Append and you can Link. Appending means you're taking data from another blend file and making a new copy of it in your current blend file.

An Introduction From Fishy956
Hey everyone! I'm Fishy956. I'm Vlad's good buddy and I'm helping him with his animations (but he is doing most of the work). We have some great videos that will be going up real soon so just wait! Anyways I just wanted to say hi to you all and let you know that we have some great stuff in the works! I will be posting regularly from now on also. Anyways I hope everyone has a good week chocked full of animating on Blender! Bye for now!
Update
I've been having some issues with getting an adsense account setup with the youtube channel, so that's mainly why I haven't posted much. I really hope it'll be sorted out soon, because there's about a bunch of stuff we're working on that should be ready really soon :) Here's some previews of what's to come:

Terrain Tutorial
People have asked me a lot for pieces of terrain, or my terrain "rig", which I don't really understand because there's nothing to it, it's just cubes. The reason they're smooth is because I just beveled out the edges, but I wouldn't recommend doing that if you're starting out because the UV mapping starts to get tricky and it can take up a lot of memory. Here's a quick tutorial on how I set up my terrain though. You should familiarize yourself with blender first, I'll mention some of the basic shortcuts and controls in the tutorial but don't rely on it. Keep in mind this tutorial was written with Blender 2.62.

New Blog
So here it is, the new blog. There's a few reasons why I wanted to change it but mainly because I didn't like the way tumblr worked or how it was organized. I wanted a more traditional sense of a "blog" and I think this'll suit it better. I also really didn't like how questions were spamming up the majority of the blog, so instead if you have a question just post it in the comments or email it to me (vmcomix@gmail.com). Try and keep the questions related to our videos and whatnot. If it's a general question about blender there's plenty of sites you can learn from. http://cgcookie.com/blender/, http://www.blenderguru.com/, http://blendernerd.com/ to name a few. YouTube has plenty of tutorials too, or if you need somebody to help you personally then try posting on a forum like http://blenderartists.org/forum/index.php.
Also as for the name change, we decided to stick with this name for now. Makes things easier. So yeah expect more things like news and behind the scenes stuff, as well as any other stuff we wanna share. Right now it'll be mostly me, but as I mentioned on tumblr I have 2 friends helping me out so they might eventually start posting too.
